Match play 21 blackjack is a type of blackjack that is played with 8 decks of cards, but all the tens have been removed. The face cards are still there and they do count as 10 points, the Ace is 1 or 11 points and the numbered cards 2-9 are all worth their own value. The aim of Match play 21 blackjack is like in basic blackjack to beat the dealer with a score closest to 21 without going over. The best thing is of course to achieve a score of 21 which is called a blackjack, a natural blackjack is a blackjack made out of an Ace and a face card. A hand with 21 points made out of 3 cards is not seen as a blackjack.
Match play 21 blackjack starts with you placing a bet. After that the dealer will deal the cards and you will receive two cards face up. The dealer will receive one card face up and one card face down (hole card). Now the turn is to you and you have the same options like in classic blackjack: hit, stand, split, double, buy insurance or surrender.
A difference with classic blackjack is that with Match play 21 blackjack there are several hands which will give you a nice extra bonus. Do keep in mind that these bonuses only count for an original hand, if you split or double down the bonuses are not applicable anymore.

  • Match play 21: this occurs when you have a hand made out of three 7 cards and the dealer has a 7 card showing. It pays out 40:1.

  • The tens are all removed from the deck.
  • Match play 21 blackjack is played with 8 decks of 48 cards.
  • The cards are shuffled after each hand.
  • The dealer must always hit on soft 17.
  • Blackjack beats any hand of 21 points
  • In the case the dealer and the player both have 21, the player always wins.
  • Match play 21 blackjack offers the Late Surrender option. This means that once you have drawn one or more cards and you feel that you will be beaten, you can surrender half the value of your bet.
  • You may split any pair, but you can only re-split once. You can also split Aces but once you draw a 10 valued card it will not be seen as a blackjack.
  • You can double down only once, one additional card will be given and then you have to stand. You cannot double if your hand is a blackjack.
